(ENGLEWOOD, CO) May 22, 2008 – Collective Licensing International, owner of the Airwalk® brand, has teamed up with Stride Rite to create two collections of footwear inspired by Airwalk star athletes, pro skateboarder Andy Macdonald (“Andy Mac”) and pro surfer Anastasia Ashley. Both the Andy Macdonald collection for boys and the Anastasia Ashley collection for girls feature the athlete’s signature, unique logo and board-sport styling based on creative input directly from both Macdonald and Ashley. Both collections will be available at Stride Rite storesnationwide in early July.
The Andy Mac boys’ collection features two styles offered in four color options: the Skate Lace ($30), a low-profile black suede and white/navy leather lifestyle shoe, and the Tech Skate ($40), available in black/red and brown/white. With a reinforced double-stitched toe, herringbone and gum rubber outside, the Tech Skate style gets its “tech on” by enhancing traction and adding comfort. Each style features Macdonald’s signature, as well as the Benihana logo for which he is well-known. Sizes run from boys’ 10.5 to 6.
“I really loved working with Stride Rite on this Airwalk collection—it allowed me to get really creative,” Macdonald said. “The end result is kids’ shoes that I would wear myself. The styling is fresh, and they have great comfort details.”
Adorned with a glitzy star logo on each style, the Anastasia Ashley girls’ collection features three styles: Skate Lace ($40), a white/pink version of the boys’ style of the same name; and two vulcanized styles—a brown lace up sneaker ($30) with pink accents, and a ballet flat ($30) available in either brown/pink or a pink floral print with glitter and rhinestone accents. Sizes run from girls’ 10.5 to 6.
“I was so honored to design my own shoes—my personality is really reflected in each style,” Ashley said.
“I love the pink-and-brown combinations, and the silhouettes are totally laid back and all about the surf
lifestyle.”
"We are extremely excited to be expanding our brand portfolio into the surf and skate lifestyle category by offering a signature line of Airwalk shoes for boys and girls inspired by world-class athletes Andy
Macdonald and Anastasia Ashley, each highly regarded in the professional skate and surf world,” said Pamela Salkovitz, president of Stride Rite Children’s Group. “With this launch, we continue to expand our brand to offer fashion collections to the 7- to 10-year-old Stride Rite consumer within our Stride Rite stores."
